Sanif Olek develops highly-rated prime television content of various genres and making his mark as a filmmaker with unique storytelling and visual aesthetics. In a career spanning 15 years (since 1996), Sanif has collaborated with Singapore’s leading production agencies for multiple award-winning TV programmes, seen by multinational audiences. He is the creative director at reeljuice, a creative agency actively promoting effective storytelling as a means to narrate the human condition in drama and documentary genres.
He has won the ‘Best Director’ award in drama categories three times at MediaCorp’s Pesta Perdana. He is the director of previous award-winning drama series (ie Ayah @ Rumah, 1988… Segaris Sinar, Kaki Borak and Kerja Overtime), info-eds (ie, Mentari, Soo Lazat, Semarak Budaya). The drama series Sanif Olek conceptualised under reeljuice received a record 18 nominations in 11 categories. The series received 5 awards. The info-ed Vanila (series #1) was rated at more than 15.0, another record achievement.
His LOVE Trilogy comprising of the short films LOST SOLE, À LA FOLIE and AMEEN have won numerous awards and been screened at numerous international film festivals, including Hawaii Int’l Film Festival, Montreal World Film Festival, Rhode Island Int’l Film Festival (a qualifying film festival for the Oscars), Jojga-NETPAC Asian Film Festival. His film was showcased at The Museum of Modern Art, New York.
Sanif was commissioned to create the audiovisual interactive gallery for the National Museum of Singapore in 2006 at the key feature exhibition in the Living Gallery (film).
Sanif holds a Diploma in Film & Media Studies from Ngee Ann Polytechnic and a Bachelor of Arts (Media & Communications) degree from Murdoch University (Perth, Australia). At present, he juggles between full-time television work, adjunct lecturing at Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s Film and Media Studies Dept., public outreach programmes, completing the feature film, VOLUPTAS, and funding the next, RAMUAN RAHASIA.
